Leave the gun, take the cannoli

Day 44 is here and I had a big weekend of exploring. It was very difficult to decide what to a write about first… so here goes.

I took the cannoli, ate the cannoli, and thoroughly enjoyed the cannoli.  Because I was so excited about this new exploration in eating, I forgot to take a picture until I was halfway into it, whoops.

What make cannoli exciting? Mostly the fact that I had never tried it before. Also, it was probably the thrill of the stacks of empty cannoli located around the bakery and the filling of the cannoli right before my eyes (and that’s all before I even tried it).  Cannoli is a fried tube, sometimes with ends dipped in chocolate, with a tasty ricotta cream feeling spilling out the ends.  The combination of the crunchy slightly airy tube, the excitement of the chocolate dipped end and the light filling creates a pretty amazing sensation while eating.  I think this exploration is also a new love.

Confession: I have not seen the Godfather. But, if you recall there is a line in You’ve Got Mail by Tom Hanks quoting the Godfather (I think that counts…). Either way, after this discovery in Little Italy (along with more to come), I might just have to see the Godfather.

Leave the gun, take the cannoli

I love the title! I always get such a kick of seeing foodies throw in Pop Culture references too
