Interesting People

Post number 30 on the eve of leap day, which conveniently happens only every four years.  Unusual, eh? Well if you think of the odds 1 in 4, that’s not to shabby, bringing me to my love: interesting and unusual people.

Liking interesting people sounds normal, well at least I hope it sounds normal. I would hate to imagine millions of people sitting next to millions of other people not talking with blank faces because the other person is simple not interesting.  I understand that interest is just like beauty, it is in the eye of the beholder. So really my aforementioned vision could be fixed by just moving some of the millions of people around. anyway, on to the real topic: loving interesting people in my life, again, sounds normal, but I’m going to add another layer.

I had a realization recently (very recently) that at this point in my life, interesting people are necessary to make life more enjoyable.  However, having them in your life is the only condition. Location of these people, relation to these people, frequency of interaction, or length or depth of interaction are all negotiable.

What I’m getting at, is that these small interactions or snippets of a day or week or month are really what life is made of. Now, in the same moment, I want to say that you don’t have to have intense, long lasting, or even regular meetings to have certain people be  interesting and make your life more complete. I can’t say that you don’t need some consistency in some of your relationship, but to me, it’s more important to have interesting people in a variety ways then to have one consistent, yet uninteresting (some say boring) person in your life.  The point is, I would much rather have several good friends in my life, then give up my interesting daily conversations to spend all of my time with one boring person. Thankfully, life doesn’t work like that.

Keep it interesting
